Childhood used to being quite different from what it is today. Young people didn’t use to
have so many leisure time. Today’s children may complain about their schoolwork, but our
great-grand parents would go out to work in a very young age. They had often left school
by the time they were fourteen and found a job. This meant that they had little free time for
hobbies or leisure activity, especially when they had to work hard all day. Of course, they
got used to work long hours eventually, but it would mean that they had to grow up very
quick. Today, we are used to having some free time do things we enjoy, a luxury which
people in the past rarely had.
