Sydney, the largest city in Australia and the country’ cultural centre, is well- known for its performing arts centre called the Sydney Opera House, one of the most famous modern buildings in the world. It was designed by Jorn Utzon, a Danish architect.

The construction began in 1956 and was completed in 1973 after many years of controversy and argument. It is located on Sydney Harbor and not very far from the famous Sydney Harbor Bridge. It has an eye- catching and distinctive shape. The whole house looks like a giant ship in full sail heading for the opera sea. It is now known as a masterpiece of modern architecture.
