Robert and the cave house
Last year, Robert went on holiday to a very old village near the
mountains. It was famous because, a long time ago, people lived in caves
there. When Robert and his parents arrived at their hotel, they found some
photos of the cave houses in their room. They looked very interesting and
the next morning they got up early to go and visit them.
When they went inside the first cave house, Robert was unhappy because
it was very dark inside. But after a few minutes, he could see the old rock
walls and some funny rock stairs too. It was very interesting.
Suddenly, Robert heard something above his head. He looked up and saw
three bats. Mum! Dad! There are bats in this cave,' he whispered.
'Well, bats like living in caves too, his mother answered. It's OK. They
won't hurt you. Come and look at this.' Robert's mother took a big
torch out of her rucksack and pointed it at one of the walls. There were
some beautiful paintings of the people and the animals that lived there
thousands of years ago.
"Wow!" said Robert. "Would you like to live in a cave, Mum?"
"No!" she laughed. I don't want to live in a cold, dark place like this,'
she said. It smells horrible in here too. I like my nice new house. Come on!
Let's go back to the hotel.
