Dear Grandma,
How are you doing? My parents told me that you have just recovered from a cold. I hope you are feeling better now.
The last time we spoke, I promised I would send you a letter every week while I was away, so here is the first one! I just arrived at the Chinese camp two days ago but I love it already.
In some ways, it’s similar to other summer camps that I used to join. During the day, we swim in the lake, play fun games, and work on art projects. The only difference is that we do everything in Chinese! I like speaking Chinese but sometimes it is hard to make others understand exactly what I want to say. But nobody ever gets angry or annoyed with me. I think it is important to practice speaking with nice people when learning a foreign language. In this way, I don’t feel too embarrassed when making a mistake.
In my next letters, I will tell you more about my projects as well as some of the great friends I have just made. I am sure you will like them as well.
