Viet Nam is one of the most culturally diverse countries in Southeast Asia with 54 ethnic groups and more than 50 languages. In spite of making up only 13% of the population, minor ethnic groups have always contributed in developing the Vietnamese culture in many ways. For example, there are various festivals among ethnic groups with unique customs and traditions such as throwing ball into hoop to bring luck of the Hmong, dragon dance of the Hoa and so on. Artistic expression of ethnic groups also diversifies the culture in Viet Nam with many types of performing arts and dance styles. People of ethnic groups practice different folk religions. A lot of indigenous religions in Viet Nam involve worshiping gods, nature and ancestors, etc.
