if you could change one thing in school, what would you change? why
Olivia Hayden Lauren Gia Linh Pham-Craps Chat Online Report
- Bring back recess. Schools are frequently combining lunch and recess, limiting the amount of time students get to be active. Make recess a required class that lets students organize sports to play and exercises to try every day.
- Let students take classes that match their skill level. Advanced in Science? We can move you up a level. Doing poorly in Language? We bring you back a few levels and work hard to build from there.
- Have better lunches. Limit the sugar, fat, sodium and calories allowed in a lunch. Eliminate soft drinks and vending machines with unhealthy foods. Try setting up a day a week where everyone (including teachers) has to sit in randomly selected seats. I believe it will help students learn to talk to their peers more and learn more about their teachers.
- Bring more technology into the classroom. You see some schools trying this, but they only take it to some extent. I want schools to be based around technology. When students need to ask questions they should be able to send a notification to the teacher so they know to turn around to see your hand. Students should send in virtual answers to the teacher’s questions. Students should send in ”this is easy” ”this is hard” polls so the teacher knows when to speed up or slow down the lesson.
