As Tet is approaching, my family is busy preparing for the biggest holiday in Vietnam. Tet usually takes place in late January or early February, depending on the lunar calendar.
My father is the one who takes charge of decorating the house for Tet. He usually starts decorating a week before Tet. He hangs red posters around the house that wish for good luck and prosperity in the new year. He also sets up a beautiful altar to pay tribute to our ancestors and gods.
My mother is responsible for buying some essential things for Tet. She goes to the market to purchase traditional foods like dried nuts, jams, candies, and dried fruits. She also buys flowers to decorate the altar and the house.
Before Tet arrives, we clean all the glass windows in our house to welcome good luck and prosperity. It is a traditional belief in Vietnam that cleanliness attracts positive energy and new opportunities.
Apart from preparing for Tet, we also take this occasion to wish for the good health and happiness of our parents. We express our gratitude and love to them by giving them meaningful gifts and spending more quality time with them.
In conclusion, preparing for Tet is a busy but meaningful time for my family. We cherish this time as a chance to reconnect, celebrate, and share our blessings with each other.
