Traditional Tet is one of the most important festivals of Vietnam. Just like in Western countries that follow Christianity, Christmas is a sacred and important holiday, so is the traditional New Year's Day. Traditional New Year's Day is called Lunar New Year or Lunar New Year, and is considered the most important moment of a year. The time starts on the 1st day of the 1st lunar month of the new year. The Lunar New Year usually falls between the end of January and the middle of February of a calendar year. Normally in Vietnam, every occasion to prepare for the Lunar New Year, everyone, whether working or going to school, has a holiday schedule. Normally, the time off is from one working week or more (for employees) and two to three days before December 30. To prepare for the important Tet holiday of this year, every family often buys a lot of new things, cleans the house, prepares a tray of rice to worship ancestors. And yet, on the traditional New Year's Day, there is also a custom to visit the elderly, family members, friends and neighbors every time Tet comes. At that time, homeowners or adults will give lucky money to children and elders with wishes at the beginning of the new year of peace, prosperity, and everything as desired. This is not only a custom but also a cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people, to show concern and hope for a full and peaceful life for everyone.

Tết cổ truyền là một trong những lễ hội quan trọng nhất của Việt Nam. Cũng giống như các nước phương tây theo đạo Thiên chúa thì lễ giáng sinh là ngày lễ thiêng liêng và quan trọng thì ngày tết cổ truyền cũng tương tự như vậy. Ngày Tết cổ truyền gọi là Tết Nguyên đán hay tết âm lịch, và được coi là thời khắc quan trọng nhất của một năm. Thời gian bắt đầu vào ngày mùng 1 tháng 1 âm lịch của năm mới. Tết Nguyên đán thường rơi vào khoảng cuối tháng Một đến giữa tháng Hai dương lịch của một năm. Thông thường ở Việt Nam, mỗi dịp chuẩn bị đến Tết Nguyên đán thì mọi người dù làm việc hay đi học đều có lịch nghỉ lễ. Thông thường thời gian được nghỉ là từ một tuần làm việc trở lên (đối với người đi làm) và được nghỉ trước ngày 30 tháng chạp từ hai đến ba ngày. Để chuẩn bị cho ngày Tết quan trọng của năm này thì mọi nhà thường sắm sửa rất nhiều đồ mới, dọn dẹp nhà cửa, chuẩn bị mâm cơm thờ cúng ông bà tổ tiên. Chưa hết, ngày Tết cổ truyền còn có một phong tục thăm hỏi người lớn tuổi, người thân trong gia đình, bạn bè, hàng xóm mỗi khi Tết đến xuân về. Khi đó gia chủ hoặc người lớn sẽ lì xì cho trẻ con và người lớn tuổi cùng những lời chúc vào đầu năm mới an khang thịnh vượng, vạn sự như ý. Đây không chỉ là phong tục mà còn là nét đẹp văn hóa của người Việt, để thể hiện quan tâm, hy vọng có một cuộc sống đủ đầy và bình an cho mọi người.

All of the special holidays in my country, I like Tet the most. Tet is an occasion to everyone get together in warm atmosphere. Before Tet holiday, Everyone prepares many things and decorates their house. I plant a lot of flowers in front of my house and buy many things such as clothes, foods. Besides, most of the streets also are decorated beautifully with colorful lights and flowers. During Tet, I spends more time on visiting my relatives, friends and colleagues. Especially, I give to each other the best wishes for the new year. Tet is an opportunity for children receive lucky money. There is a funny thing that people try to avoid argument or saying any bad things at Tet. I love Tet holiday!
