I have a passionate love affair with books and nothing makes me happier than to have a stack of books on my nightstand to attack on a night when there is no alarm clock waiting the next morning. Let me share with you the reasons why reading is the best hobby we can have.

One of the reasons why reading is the best hobby is because it expands our horizons. It gives me something new and different to enjoy. And there are so many diverse subjects that I can read about and I always learn something every time I read. I can learn practically anything from reading a good book on the subject. It sharpens my mind and increases my level of understanding of different things in life.

Furthermore, reading is such a peaceful hobby. I can do it in complete silence and just enjoy the serenity of hearing nothing but my inner thoughts as I make my way through a book. It inspires a peaceful feeling. Many are the times that I sighed a deep, contented sigh as I read the last page of a good book. I don’t know anything else that offers such enjoyment.

Finally, reading indulges my imagination.  When I read, I usually come up with my own visual images to go along with the book. Sometimes when I am beginning a book, I will stop and take a few minutes to just sit and think about how I want the characters to appear to me. It is quite enjoyable to do so.
