Adele Adkins - better known simply as 'Adele' - was born in 1988 in London. As a child, she loved
music. She started singing when she was only four!
She spent her early years in London and Brighton. She didn't go to university, but she studied at The

dancers.

When she was eighteen, she put some of her songs on the My space website. A lot of people loved
songs, and she soon became famous. Later, in 2008, she sang on a popular TV programme in the
USA. In 2011 her album 21 was number one in twenty-six countries!
Adele isn't just a singer. She's a songwriter, too. For example, in 2012 she wrote and sang Skyfall,
the song for a famous James Bond film. She won an Oscar!
