I was born and grew up in a countryside, where has become more modern but the best things from the old days are still there, especially the atmosphere and the New Year’s scenery – the thing I like the most. The small countryside is much more modern now. The houses are bright colors with large gardens, the asphalt road is covered with green trees. The breath of an industrial and modern era is suffuse. Even so, the Tet holidays in here are still not taken away by that. Houses still package of green glutinous rice cakes, called Banh chung. Before the New Year’s Eve, from 6 to 7 days, people began washing the leaves, carefully preparing ingredients. After cooking Banh chung, it’s time to prepared for Pomelo. The market is crowded with people. Every sound merged together, noisily but strangely joyful. Preparing before Tet is still the same, not without a step. Then, the most expected day came. After a New Year’s Eve is the morning of the New year. The asphalt road which always crowded is strangely sparse today. Everyone holds a red gift bag to each other’s house. Children were dressed new clothes with plump face filled with joy with lucky money in their hands. Houses have peach color, brilliant yellow apricot color. The plates of cakes and jam which often not eaten much now can eat how much you like. I really love the New Year in my hometown.
