From northern North America (using 41% of the continent), Canada is a broad, diverse area of the bottom of which is bordered by the North Pacific Ocean to the west, the North Atlantic Ocean to the east and The Arctic Ocean is to the north (hence the national motto "From Sea to Sea") as well as to the United States (continental United States) to the south and to the northwest (Alaska). Northeast is Greenland, located off the south coast of the island of Newfoundland in Saint Pierre and Miquelon, an overseas territory of France. Since 1925, Canada has claimed the sovereign rights of the Arctic Region between the economic range of 60°T and 141°T at the North Pole; however, this book has not yet been recognized. Although its North Pole is within the Canadian Arctic Territory as of 2011, recent measurements indicate progress towards Siberia.
