A 34-year-old librarian from Clifden in County Galway claims she and a friend spotted a large serpent-like monster in Lake Fadda in western Ireland on Wednesday afternoon as they were picnicking near the shore of the lake. Local police are investigating the story, which follows a series of similar reports in recent years. Researchers at Trinity College, Dublin have also taken an interest in the reports. Georgia Cranberry, the wife of a local businessman, described what she and her friend saw at about three o'clock last Wednesday as 'a huge monster writhing in the water like a snake, about 30 metres off shore'. Her friend confirmed
the story and added : 'We were terrified The creature was enormous and it swam with its mouth open. It was just like those pictures of the Loch Ness Monster.' More details were not available as before they were able to take a photograph of the monster it disappeared below the surface of the lake, which is nearly half a mile long. The description given to the police by the two women matches that of other eyewitnesses of incidents involving strange creatures in the lakes of Connemara. Local people have been warned not to swim in the lakes.
