Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the most significant traditional holidays in Vietnam. Celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, this festival holds a special place in the hearts of Vietnamese people.

During this time, families come together to celebrate the harvest season and pay tribute to the moon. The festival is marked by various customs and traditions. One of the most iconic symbols of the Mid-Autumn Festival is the colorful lanterns. Children and adults alike carry lanterns of different shapes and sizes, lighting up the night sky with their vibrant colors.

Another highlight of the festival is the mooncakes. These round pastries are filled with various ingredients such as lotus seeds, nuts, and salted egg yolks. Families exchange mooncakes as a symbol of unity and togetherness. It is also common to offer mooncakes to friends and relatives as a gesture of goodwill.

Children play a significant role in the celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. They dress up in traditional costumes and participate in lantern parades and lion dances. They also enjoy various activities such as solving riddles written on lanterns and playing traditional games like "tò he" (toy figurine made from glutinous rice dough).

One of the most beautiful aspects of the Mid-Autumn Festival is the moon gazing. Families gather in open spaces, parks, or even on rooftops to admire the full moon. It is believed that the moon is at its brightest and roundest during this time, symbolizing reunion and happiness.

Overall, the Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam is a time of joy, unity, and gratitude. It brings families and communities together, allowing them to appreciate the beauty of nature and cherish their loved ones. It is a celebration that showcases the rich cultural heritage of Vietnam and creates lasting memories for generations to come.

Every year, August 15 is the Mid-Autumn Festival. On that day, the children in my village were very excited to wear beautiful clothes and hold toys to join their friends to celebrate Children's Day. Before the festival, my mother went to the market to prepare a beautiful star lantern for me. At exactly seven o'clock in the evening, children lulled each other to the lantern procession. I also asked my parents for permission to come with them. We will go from the end of the village up to the village communal house. Leading the group are young men and women. Each brother and sister will carry a drum to play each song in harmony. Then there was a sister who would catch us so we could sing many different children's songs. At the end of the group, there will be a number of adults who will follow their children and then go to the communal house to break the feast. Initially, the group will divide into two rows. But just a moment later, you were rushing closer to each other to talk, laugh and have fun. Every year the festival leaves me with unforgettable memories. The different emotions that come with each year are when I become more mature and more thoughtful. Those are the happy notes in the music of my childhood.
