Living in a lighthouse is brilliant! The only problem is that it’s a long way from school and my friends’ homes, but they often come and stay. We have great football matches on the beach ten metres away. I’m having a party here next week and it’ll be amazing. We moved here three years ago because Dad was tired of city life. He saw a TV programme about living by the sea and decided to do the same.

I can’t imagine life in a normal house because I’ve always lived on a houseboat! We move it around and now we’re on a river five minutes’ walk from Dad’s office and my school. My friends often come here and they all want to live on a houseboat now. You can watch TV and play computer games just like in a normal house, but it’s more fun.

Dad’s a builder and his company was making some underground houses. He decided to try one for a month but we’ve been here for ten years already. It’s an unusual house - it was even on a TV programme once. It can be cold but it’s not dark because one side’s open to the light. It’s quiet here because of the earth around us. I invited twenty friends from school for my birthday. The music was loud but no-one could hear us. It was great!
