Many countries are importing a variety of food products from other countries. This trend happens due to the significant demand of the local markets in which consumers are more likely to spend money on new commodities, especially the ones that have come foreign countries. Hence, some people might argue that countries should be able to produce food for their own people instead of importing them. In this essay, it will be shown that the argument is inappropriate and importing the right food products is necessary.

Firstly, weather plays a significant role in agriculture. Not many countries have the right weathers to grow certain fruits. For example, sweet mangoes can mostly be found only in tropical countries whereas in cold weather countries, they will be less tasty. Hence, many Western countries prefer to import mangoes from other tropical countries. If imported food has to be reduced, the prices of these products will go up drastically and average income earners will not be able to afford.

Secondly, it can lead to significant pressures on the agriculture industry of a country if it decides to produce food for its own people and to reduce imported food. As a matter of fact, many countries have very limited farming land which cannot supply sufficient amounts of food products for the whole countries. Hence, importing food from other countries can reduce this burden.

Thirdly, importing the right products can not only enrich the diversity of the products on the markets but also create job opportunities for locals. For example, consumers can have a wider range of options when going shopping if there are both local foods and imported ones. At the same time, to cope with the increase in food consumption, there will be more demands for logistics jobs.

In a nut shell, countries should be able to produce foods for their own people and should encourage the right products to be imported so that their people can gain benefits from this.

Ensuring adequate food for the entire population has been a major concern for nations throughout the centuries. Some people believe that government should focus on producing all kinds of food while importing as less as possible to ensure buying capabilities of all citizens. I firmly believe that producing many kinds of food is an inevitable effort in terms of ensuring nation’s food security.

Firstly, the more a country relies on imported food, the more food crisis it faces. Food import includes transportation costs, taxation and other charges that eventually increase the food price. To tackle this problem, a government should allocate more budgets to improve national production by maximising the collaboration of university and research laboratory. Consequently, this idea can create more talented individuals who would be involved in domestic food production. Furthermore, by mass production of all kinds of food items, a country can prepare for the rainy days.

Secondly, by focusing on farming, irrigation and planting, a government can decrease unemployment problems. For example, in Indonesia, farming sector creates the highest percentage of jobs. More than 50 percent Indonesian are directly or indirectly depends on the agriculture sector.

Finally, imported food does not have the quality and freshness that locally produced one can offer. If food is imported from a long distance, the food value degrades and in some cases, toxic chemicals are used to preserve the food. Thus the local production of foods would ensure better food quality and sound health of citizens.

In conclusion, preventing the food crisis, ensuring better food quality and decreasing unemployment issues could implement if a country becomes self-sufficient on their food production. Massively producing all kind of foods is a great effort which government could decide and take advantages of.

Every country wants to reduce its dependency on importing while wishes to maximise its export items and the food is not an exception to that. However, not all countries have the same geographic features, weather condition and suitable lands to produce each type of food the citizens need. This is why a country should focus more on its overall economic growth rather than using manpower and budget to become self-reliant on food, despite some people's opposing views.

To begin with, soil, weather condition, available lands and demographics of a county determines what crops and fruits it can produce. Not all countries have the same geographical feature and manpower and thus it is evitable that some of the items require importing. In many cases, importing is rather advantageous than producing it. For instance, it is impossible for an Arab country to produce all types of foods due to its weather condition. If they focus on growing these food items and engage its manpower to do that, their economic growth would get slower.

Moreover, a country like Germany and China can focus on manufacturing and industrial innovation while import food from other countries. The ultimate outcome is more beneficial for them. However, this might not be the case for a country that solely depends on the agriculture sector and majority of its population are already dependant on it. They can focus on improving its production but this model is not suitable for industrial countries.

To conclude, I personally believe that the free trade and globalisation have made the world a global village and with the speedy transportation system, food import cost has already declined. Since fulfilling the mass people's diverse needs for various kinds of food is not feasible for a country, it should focus on its true potential rather than allocating budget and manpower to become self-dependent on food.

I think I would disagree with the idea above. First of all, our people have their own labor, we should find food with our own hands. If the state provides food, then we will not develop. Second, the good production and import state, the people will have a happier, happier and more peaceful life. Finally, Vietnamese people We should support 'Labor is glory', develop good traditions of the nation, contribute and promote the country's development.
