Taiwanese pearl milk tea or Taiwanese milk tea (ãi 奶茶; black tea pearls) is a drink made from green or black tea developed by beverage shops in Taichung, Taiwan in the 1980s [1 ]. The characteristic of pearl milk tea is that when shaken, a thin layer of saliva is formed on the surface. Because of this feature, bubble tea is used to refer to any tea that is shaken during preparation, such as sugar teas "Black Tea mulch" (泡沫 紅茶), "Green Tea mantle" (泡沫綠茶). Bubble tea is generally divided into two categories: fruit flavored teas or milk teas. Milk tea can use milk-based or non-dairy creams. Originating in Taiwan, pearl milk tea is especially popular in some Asian countries such as China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore. It is also popular in Europe, Canada, and the United States. Bubble tea can also refer to hot Cantonese milk tea mixed with tapioca granules.
