Among Vietnam ethnic communities, Kinh ethnic, which accounts for 86.2% of Vietnam population, plays a crucial role in national development. Kinh people allocate along whole Vietnam and some other countries. For thousands of years, the Kinh have developed one of the greatest agricultural civilizations in Asia. However, today, the service industry also develops significantly, especially tourism. About the customs and habits, traditionally, Kinh people have lived together in harmony under the village or in a neighbourhood. The husband is considered the head of the family and children take the last name of their father. After the wedding, the bride normally goes to live with her husband’s family. Especially, Kinh people attach much importance to the virtues of women. As regards to culture, the language here has changed a lot and now they are using Chu Quoc Ngu (national language). They also maintain a rich collection of literature which includes old tales, poems, and proverbs. The traditional custom here is “ao dai” – Vietnamese traditional long dress. Beside physical values, the Kinh also demonstrate precious values on spirituality, such as ancestor worship, death anniversaries and unique festivals. Despite many changes related to globalization, the Kinh still keep up their traditional customs.
