Tet is the most important and popular holiday in Vietnam. It is known as Lunar New Year holiday in Vietnam. Tet always takes place around late January or February. Before Tet, many Vietnameses often come back home and reunite with their family. They prepare to cook traditional foods such as Chung Cake (which make from glutinous rice, mung beans and pork), some diffirent dried candied fruits, pickled onion, etc… Moreover, they both clean and decorate their house with peach or apricot blossoms and kumquat trees. The air of Tet holiday is extremely busy and eventful. During Tet, Vietnameses often visits their relatives and temples or pagoda to pray lucky and happiness. People have many greetings each other. The traditional greetings are “An khang thịnh vượng” (security, good health and prosperity), “Chúc mừng năm mới” (happy new year) or “Vạn sự như ý” (many myriad things go according to your will). Specially, people can receive lucky money from others as a way to give them wishes for the new year. Another activities can occur such as play cards, get together after a busy year, return to their native village,… There is a funny things that everybody always try to say many good thing at Tet. To me, this is an important festival. I really enjoy it.
