Talking about Vietnamese holidays, I believe the Lunar New Year will always be the first to pop up in everyone’s mind. More than any other occasion, it is the most expected annual event by the Vietnamese everywhere in the world.

The Lunar New Year festival usually takes place somewhere in the last ten days of January or the first twenty days of February and lasts from 3 to 4 days. Vietnamese people have been celebrating this occasion for thousands of years and have made it an essential part of the Vietnamese tradition. Lunar New Year’s Eve is not only a special holiday but also a chance for family gatherings and intimate get-togethers.

Since it is the most important holiday of the year, people pay great attention to everything they do and say during this occasion. Some common plans include cleaning and decorating the house, buying new clothes, making “Chung” cake, making offers for the ancestors,  giving out “lucky money”, visiting temples and pagodas… and so on. 

For me in particular and Vietnamese people all around the world in general, the Lunar New Year has remarkable meanings. It may be the only occasion that all family members can gather and be happy while sharing great news and hoping for better things for the upcoming year. 

Even though the modern lifestyle and the fast pace of life are shortening the Lunar New Year holiday, I do not think it will ever disappear as its significance is far too great in every Vietnamese’s heart.

Introduction: Okay, so now I would like to talk about the Tet holiday in Vietnam.

It is a very important holiday for all Vietnamese people. It often takes place from the end of January till the end of February. People use the Lunar Calendar to count the dates. It is also spring time. So the weather is very suitable for this festival.

It takes place to welcome the New Lunar Year. Another reason is because people have worked hard for the whole year and they need a break. Moreover, we also need to spend time with our family and Tet holiday is a good occasion.

Before the festival, people should do a complete spring cleaning. During the festival, they will visit their friend’s and relatives’ houses, enjoy some special food, play cards and exchange lucky money. In addition, they will also visit pagodas and pray for a good year of work.

First, I can get together with my family and friends after a year of hard work and study. Second, I’m happy to get dressed up in nice clothes and take a walk in public places. Third, I can visit pagodas and pray for a lucky coming year. in this festival.

Đó là một ngày lễ rất quan trọng của mọi người dân Việt Nam. Nó thường diễn ra từ cuối tháng Giêng đến cuối tháng Hai. Người Việt Nam dùng Âm lịch để đếm ngày. Thời điểm này cũng là thời gian của mùa xuân. Vì vậy thời tiết rất thích hợp cho lễ hội.

Ngày tết được tiến hành để đón năm mới. Một lý do khác là vì mọi người đã làm việc chăm chỉ trong cả năm và họ cần nghỉ ngơi. Hơn nữa, đây là dịp tốt để chúng ta dành thời gian cho gia đình.

Trước khi diễn ra lễ hội, mọi người cần dọn dẹp vệ sinh nhà cửa hoàn chỉnh. Trong lễ hội, họ sẽ đến thăm nhà bạn bè và người thân, thưởng thức một số món ăn đặc biệt, chơi bài và  lì xì cho nhau. Ngoài ra, họ cũng đi lễ chùa và cầu mong một năm làm việc thuận lợi.

Tôi thích dịp lễ này là vì đầu tiên, tôi có thể quây quần bên gia đình và bạn bè sau một năm học tập và làm việc mệt mỏi. Thứ hai, tôi rất vui khi được mặc quần áo đẹp và đi dạo ở những nơi công cộng. Thứ ba, tôi có thể đi thăm chùa và cầu mong một năm mới may mắn trong lễ hội này.
