Band-Aids
A morning in 1920, Eva Jones visited her friend, Josephine Dickson.
When Eva came, Mrs. Dickson was cooking in the kitchen. Eva
brought a fresh pie she just baked for Mrs. Dickson to try. Mrs.
Dickson opened the door and welcomed her. "Your pie smells
delicious. Let me finish cutting this apple, then we can have a cup
of tea," Mrs. Dickson said.
While she was cutting the apple, Mrs. Dickson cut her finger. It
started to bleed. She put a wet cloth on the cut finger. Eva looked
at the wound, and asked worriedly, "It looks bad. May I help you,
Mrs. Dickson?"
"No, Eva. I am always cutting myself," she said. "Could you get me
something in a small box over there? It says 'Band-Aids' on it."
Eva brought Mrs. Dickson a small piece of white cloth. She
saw Mrs. Dickson peeling off the back then sticking the
small cloth on her finger. "My husband has made a new
kind of cloth just for me. It's much better now," Mrs.
Dickson said.

think he would make some for me?" asked Eva. "Of course
