For a friendship, it’s not compulsory for you to have a good character. No matter what you will always find a friend that will share some attributes with you, and also, you may have a long lasting friendship with someone without a good character.

A good character means you are loyal, honest, hardworking, etc. A good character can definitely earn you a good friendship. As long as you maintain your character, you will be surrounded by people who love your character which means people with a good character. A true friend will always understand your values and beliefs, and will always respect your character. It’s never necessary to go beyond your character to prove your friendship.
