THE ART OF ASKING FOR ADVICE
A.Asking for advice can be scary. In a recent study, 74 percent of participants said they were afraid to ask for advice. But people who ask for advice are more likely to succeed at a task. So how do you ask for advice? Here are a few tips.
B.Look for the best person to give you advice. It might be easy to ask all your social media contacts for advice at once, but will you value all advice equally? Probably not. It might be better to target one or two people whose opinions you value the most. Ideally, you want to ask for advice from people who have experience in the topic you’re asking about.
C.Provide context. For example, imagine you can’t decide how to organize a class presentation. When you ask for advice, you should mention the topic, the audience, and the time allowed. You should also consider when to ask. If what you are asking requires a lot of thought, you should approach the person when they are most clear-headed.
D.Be specific in your questioning. Imagine you want to own a business someday. Do you ask a business owner, “What advice do you have for me?” No, because it’s not specific enough. Instead, try asking, “What college classes did you find helpful for starting a business?”
E.Sometimes, you may need to ask for a second opinion. If you can’t solve your problem by following the first person’s advice, why not ask someone else who may have a different perspective? The key is: Don’t be afraid to ask for advice.

Ask as many people as you can for advice.
Choose the right time to ask.
Have a list of specific questions.
Give detailed background information.
Ask for a second opinion.

B. Look for the best person to give you advice. It's important to seek advice from individuals who have experience in the topic you're asking about, rather than asking everyone indiscriminately.
C. Provide context. Giving detailed background information about your situation, including the topic, audience, and time constraints, can help the person providing advice understand your needs better.
D. Be specific in your questioning. Asking specific questions tailored to your needs, rather than vague ones, helps elicit more relevant and useful advice.
E. Ask for a second opinion. Seeking additional perspectives can be valuable, especially if the first advice does not fully address your problem or if you need alternative viewpoints.
