A new report about the future shows us how our work, home and free time might be in a hundred years’ time. In the report, a group of scientists and designers give their ideas about the future. They say many buildings will be much higher than the tallest buildings now. We’ll also build homes with lots of floors under the ground. But we won’t only build on land. There may be homes, and whole cities, under the sea, too. Inside homes, we can already turn on things like the lights with our phones. In the future, we’ll do more from our phones. And the walls inside our homes will move so we can change the shape of rooms. Nobody will paint their homes. Every home will have special lights to give the walls different colours and pictures at different times. One of the most amazing ideas in the report is that we will take our own homes with us on holiday! People will have special holiday homes, full of all their things, and carry them to their holiday place. We will use large drones (objects that fly without a pilot) to do this. This may mean that people won’t use hotels in the future. And when we are bored of that, instead of going away to the beach or another country, we will leave the world and fly to the moon or go to another planet.
